Calabash Gifts has a very large selection of cushions. Most of the cushions have removable liners which allow for washing. The cushions can be purchased with or without the liners.
All of the cushions are hand made and many of them are hand painted creating unique combination of colors. They are made by groups of people working at job creation programs which provide training and skill development and still allow the artist to receive fair prices. The workshops are most often located in area where there is high unemployment.
Often the designs and color combinations are created the workers who then can earn a bonus for their creativity.
The different styles of cushions are usually of a medium size but Calabash Gifts also carries some in smaller and larger sizes.
The covers that are not hand painted are usually screen printed from the original handcrafted patterns. The themes are generally African, making them unique for many settings.
